Common questions about how Clean Nagaland works, what happens to your report, and how we protect your privacy. If your question is not here, reach us through the Contact page.
About submitting reports
Do I need an account to submit a report?
No. There is no login, no account, no sign-up. You submit anonymously. You receive a tracking code so you can check the status of your report later.
Do you collect my name, address, or email?
No. We do not ask for any of that. The only optional field is a phone number on the drug reporting form, and only if you explicitly consent to be contacted by a partner counselor.
Can I submit from any device?
Yes. Any modern phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera, GPS, and a current browser will work. You must be on the real helpnagaland.com site over a secure connection. Your browser will ask for camera and location permission when you submit an alcohol report. Tap Allow.
Why does the alcohol form refuse gallery uploads?
Old photos can be reused as fake evidence. Requiring a live photo from your camera at the moment of reporting protects the map from being polluted with staged or recycled images. This is a deliberate design choice for credibility.
Why does the drug form not capture GPS?
Drug reports are sensitive. A precise GPS pin could identify you, your home, or the exact place you were standing when you filed. Free-text location descriptions are enough for partners to act, without putting you at risk.
I made a mistake in my report. Can I edit it?
No. Reports cannot be edited once submitted. If a report has a serious error, you can submit a second corrected report and mention the first tracking code in the description so moderators can reconcile them.
What happens after you submit
How long does moderation take?
Usually between 24 and 72 hours. The moderator queue is worked by real people during Nagaland business hours. We prioritize clearly actionable reports and may take longer during festivals or holidays.
What does “approved” mean?
For alcohol, approved means your pin now appears on the public map and counts toward the report count for that location. For drugs, approved means your case has been forwarded to one or more vetted partner organizations for action.
What does “rejected” mean?
Rejection usually means the report lacked enough detail to act on, was not about illegal activity, or appeared to be a test or spam submission. If you believe a rejection was unfair, you can submit again with more detail.
Why is my report still “pending”?
The moderator queue is worked oldest first. Spikes in submissions (for example around festivals) can push wait times to 72 hours or longer. Please be patient.
I never got a tracking code. What now?
The tracking code appears on the screen immediately after a successful submission. If you did not see one, your report may not have gone through. Please try again and take a screenshot of the confirmation screen.
About the public map
Why does the map only show alcohol pins?
Drug reports are confidential by design. Publishing drug locations would put residents, reporters, and innocent neighbors at risk. Those cases go only to vetted partner organizations for private action.
What does the green badge on some pins mean?
A green badge means Aloto Naga personally visited that location to confirm the report. These pins are the highest-credibility entries on the map.
Why are some pins clustered together?
When many reports fall within 100 meters of each other, we automatically merge them into a single pin with a higher report count. This protects the privacy of individual reporters and shows concentration rather than exact locations.
How accurate is the pin location?
Pins are snapped to a 50-meter grid. We deliberately do not show exact GPS coordinates. The goal is to show neighborhoods and general areas, not to expose the precise door or window where a reporter was standing.
About privacy and safety
What happens to my phone number if I share one on the drug form?
It is encrypted the moment it reaches our server. Even our own team cannot read it without a moderator unlocking the vault with a passphrase and confirming a second consent from you. Only trained partner counselors from vetted organizations are ever given access, and only when you have explicitly agreed to follow-up contact.
What happens to my submitted photos and videos?
They are automatically deleted within 30 days for alcohol reports and within 90 days for drug reports. Media is never shown on the public map, never shared with third parties, and never used for any purpose other than moderator verification.
Can the police see my report?
Not directly. Reports go to Nagaland Me moderators. For drug cases, the moderator may forward to vetted partner organizations. Law enforcement would need to request information through proper legal channels, and even then our response is governed by our Privacy Policy and Source Protection Policy.
Can Nagaland Me identify me from my report?
Without a phone number, no. We do not log IP addresses in a way that allows reverse identification. We use a rotating daily salt so that even repeat reports from the same device cannot be traced back to you across days.
What if I get threatened after reporting?
Your safety is the first priority. If you are in immediate danger, call 112. If you receive threats because of a report you filed, reach us through the Contact page. We will take down any pin that puts a specific reporter at risk.
About Nagaland Me
Who runs Clean Nagaland?
Clean Nagaland is operated by Nagaland Me, an independent digital media and technology company based in Dimapur. The founder is Aloto Naga.
Is this a government project?
No. Clean Nagaland is an independent civic platform. We are not funded by, affiliated with, or directed by any government department.
Is this linked to any political party?
No. We are strictly non-partisan. Reports about any location, from any community, are treated the same.
How is Clean Nagaland funded?
Operating costs are covered by Nagaland Me’s other revenue streams, primarily the Aloto Naga TV YouTube channel and advertising on sister sites such as Nagaland News Today. We do not accept donations from political parties, government departments, liquor associations, or drug-related entities.
Can I volunteer or partner?
Yes. If your organization works in recovery support, health counseling, legal aid, or community welfare and is interested in receiving forwarded drug cases, reach us through the Contact page.
Technical issues
The form button stays disabled after I fill everything.
The form enables the submit button eight seconds after the page loads. This is an anti-spam measure. If it is still disabled after that, check that all required fields are filled.
The camera or GPS button does nothing.
Your browser has blocked camera or location permission. Open your browser settings for helpnagaland.com and allow both. On iPhone, also check Settings then Safari then Camera and Location.
I see “Report too far from chosen district.”
Your phone’s GPS is inaccurate or your chosen district does not match your actual location. Move outdoors to get a clearer satellite fix, wait a few seconds, and try again.
The site shows a maintenance message.
The platform is temporarily paused, usually because of abuse, spam attack, or scheduled maintenance. The map and status check still work. Try the submission form again later.
I still need help.
Use the Contact page. Real humans read every message.
