Legal Notice — User Content, Liability & Lawful Disclosure
Last Update: October 2025 | Platform: Help Nagaland — operated by Aloto Naga (info@helpnagaland.com). This page explains how the platform handles user-generated material, what data is (and is not) collected, and the limits of our responsibility under Indian law.
1. Our role — intermediary, not fact-checker
Help Nagaland functions as an open, citizen-driven intermediary. We provide a venue for third-party user-generated content (reports, complaints, or whistle-blower posts). We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any user submission. Our role is limited to providing a moderated publishing space in good faith and within the protection available to intermediaries under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. Optional identity on the publish form
Users may choose to provide identifying information (such as name, email, or phone) when submitting a report, but doing so is entirely optional. If left blank, the report may still be published anonymously. We do not require or request identification for posting.
3. Users’ warranties & indemnity
By submitting content, you confirm that you own or are authorised to post it, and that your material does not violate the law or anyone’s rights. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Help Nagaland and Aloto Naga against any claim or loss arising from your submission.
4. Prohibited and high-risk content
The following are prohibited examples:
- Defamatory statements (IPC Sections 499–500).
- Material inciting violence, communal hatred, or public disorder (IPC Section 505).
- Information that endangers national security, defence operations, or ongoing investigations.
- Criminal instructions, obscene material, or content infringing intellectual-property rights.
5. Data collection, hosting & disclosure limits
Help Nagaland itself does not collect or store personally identifiable information or visitor IP addresses. Our hosting provider, Hostinger, manages the servers and retains limited technical records as part of its normal operations. These records are not accessible to us and are maintained solely under Hostinger’s internal retention policy.
Any analytics data available to us is aggregated and anonymous and cannot identify individual users. Therefore, if lawful authorities request technical information, we can only forward such requests to Hostinger, as we do not hold those records ourselves.
Users who publish anonymously remain anonymous within our system. Even if requested, we are technically unable to identify or trace such contributors through our own platform.
6. Moderation, takedown & grievance process
We may edit, hide, or remove any submission that violates these terms or applicable law. We maintain a public grievance process and will respond to valid complaints or takedown requests in compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

7. Cooperation with authorities
Help Nagaland cooperates with lawful requests issued by competent authorities or courts. Since we do not store identifying information ourselves, any verified legal inquiry will be directed to our hosting provider, who may possess limited technical data in accordance with its own policy and the laws of India.
8. Criminal liability & disclaimers
Submitting content that is defamatory, false, or otherwise unlawful may result in personal liability under Indian statutes such as IPC Sections 499–500 and 505. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Help Nagaland and Aloto Naga disclaim all warranties (express or implied) concerning user-generated material. We are not responsible for the truth, accuracy, or consequences of user content except as required by statutory duty.
10. Governing law & jurisdiction
This notice is governed by the laws of India. All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Kohima, Nagaland.
11. Amendments
We may revise this Legal Notice at any time to reflect operational or legal changes. Continued use of the platform after updates signifies acceptance of the revised terms.
